Can you introduce yourself in a few words…
I’m Adam Hale, a collage artist and animator based in Surrey, England. I had a
marketing career for several years but it never quite fulfilled my desire to be
creative. I began experimenting with collage and created ‘The Daily Splice’ on
Instagram as a way to share my work. I started collecting free magazines
distributed around London, repurposing them for my art. I received commissions
from a few large brands and it grew and grew. After a couple of years I left my
marketing job and now I work full time as an artist / graphic designer.
How would you describe your creative universe ?
My creative universe is quite chaotic - there’s not much order to begin with but I like the challenge of making something out of nothing. That’s why the collage medium is so appealing to me.
Where does your inspiration come from ?
Inspiration comes from everywhere - thanks to social media we live in a world
where you can view thousands of original pieces of art, from all over the world,
every single day!
What is the project you dream of making happen?
I am developing my animation skills and so far I’ve only created short videos - I’d
like to create a short film with a narrative, perhaps a music video.
What are you working on right now ?
I create collages for myself day-in-day-out and I love the fact that there are no boundaries. Commissions on the other hand offer a different type of challenge
and at the moment I’m working with a makeup brand, an airline and an ios app,
on seperate projects.
